Help St. Mark’s Bookshop Win a $250,000 Grant
Off the Grid recently reported on how St. Mark’s Bookshop, the beloved independent bookshop in the East Village that won a GVSHP Village Award in 2007, was able to successfully renegotiate their lease after falling sales left the store struggling to make ends meet. Now that St. Mark’s has a new lease, they are getting creative once again to restock their shelves and hire back staff.
St. Mark’s Bookshop is in the running for a business grant of $250,000—you heard that right, a grant—from Chase Bank, Living Social, and the US Chamber of Commerce. The program is meant to help small businesses grow by awarding 12 small business grants of $250,000. Want to help? You can put in your vote for St. Mark’s Bookshop at www.missionsmallbusiness.com. You just need a facebook account to log in. Voting ends this Saturday, June 30th.
Keep up the good work St. Mark’s. We hope you are part of the neighborhood for another 35 years.
