The Famous Four-Legged Celebrities of the West Village
The West Village is home to more than just gorgeous historic architecture, charming cobblestone streets, delicious restaurants, and delightful cafes. It’s also the stomping grounds for some seriously famous dogs. From the playful pups who bring smiles to their neighbors’ faces, to the four-legged stars making waves on the national stage, the dogs of the West Village are a breed apart. Among these notable canines is Schmutzie, a majestic Samoyed who’s captured the hearts of locals and is now setting her sights on the spotlight at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Dog Show. Whether they’re posing for Instagram, starring in a viral moment, or preparing for one of the country’s most esteemed dog competitions, these West Village dogs prove that the neighborhood isn’t just for humans — it’s a pretty great place for pups too!
Meet Mac: The Adventurous German Shorthaired Pointer Who Calls Greenwich Village Home

Mac may be a 4-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, but his story is anything but typical. Originally from the quiet countryside of rural Texas, this lovable rescued pup now spends his days navigating the bustling streets of New York City. And, as you might guess, Mac has quickly made himself known — especially in his neighborhood of Greenwich Village. He’s practically a local celebrity with shopkeepers who always have a treat waiting for him when he strolls by with his human, Jane Street residents Stephen Larkin and Chris Dressler.
Unlike most German Shorthaired Pointers, who are typically liver-colored, Mac sports a striking black coat with white spots. His unique coloring is one of the many things that make him stand out in a crowd.

But what truly sets Mac apart is his affectionate nature. He’s the ultimate shadow, always close to his humans — whether it’s underfoot or snuggled up beside them. If you’re in NYC and you see a black-and-white GSP hanging out at a café or by the park, chances are, it’s Mac!

As his human Stephen says, “In a world full of Brads, be a Mac!”
When the city life gets a bit too hectic, Mac loves to escape to the outdoors. He’s often hiking the scenic mountains of the Adirondacks or swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Provincetown. Whether on land or sea, Mac is always up for adventure, making him the perfect balance of city sophistication and outdoor enthusiast.
Keep an eye out for Mac whenever find yourself walking through the Village — he’s the pupper with a tail wagging for treats and new friends.
