Our Amazing 2025 Summer Interns

Our Summer 2025 intern team truly is the best and brightest! This dynamic group is one of the largest cohorts we’ve ever hosted, and they’ve impressed us with their organization, attention to detail, and genuine passion for our neighborhoods. Energetic and self-motivated, they’ve made meaningful contributions across a wide range of projects, and left a lasting impression on our staff. With future community leaders like these on the rise, we know our neighborhoods are in good hands.

L to R: Abigail, Devan, Anna, Olivia, and Annabelle

Abigail Hicks

Abigail recently graduated from Baruch College with her Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Real Estate. Originally from Brooklyn, she now lives in Queens. She came to us via the CUNY Internship to Employment program, and we are excited to have her on the team through at least the end of the year. Abigail has been working closely with our development and programming teams on a number of important projects and initiatives.

Devan Luciano-Phillips

Devan is a 22-year old Lower East Side native and current resident. He is entering his senior year at The City College of New York where he is earning his degree in psychology. Devan was matched with us through the Summer Youth Employment program via the Henry Street Settlement. He has worked primarily on research for our children’s education program this summer. This is Village Preservation’s first year hosting a SYEP intern, and based on our experience with Devan, we will certainly do it again next year.

Anna Carl

Anna Carl is a graduate student at Columbia University earning her Master of Science in Urban Planning. She is originally from Michigan but has loved her time living in New York City. This summer, Anna has been working closely with our research and preservation department on a variety of projects, including updates to East Village Building Blocks where you can explore every building in the East Village, and our Greenwich Village Historic District map including “then and now” photos of every building in the district as well as tours and other features.

Olivia Isacson

Olivia is a lifelong resident of Lower Manhattan entering her senior year of high school. Although she is our youngest intern, she brings a wealth of skills and experience. She is determined, driven, and maintains strong community ties. She has worked with various departments on a number of projects since she started with us in early June, including our annual meeting and summer newsletter.

Annabelle Reichelt

Annabelle is a lifelong resident of the Lower East Side and is a rising Junior at Syracuse University, majoring in Art History and Economics. Our most recent addition, Annabelle has been working on our library and other projects. Annabelle lived in London for the first half of the summer, completing an internship with Live Art Developmental Agency.

We’re always looking for motivated individuals for internship and volunteer positions at our organization. See here and here for more info.
