Participating in the 2021 Primary Elections June 22 is more important than ever, and we are here to help you learn about candidates’ positions and records.

Join us and fellow preservation organizations for forums with the candidates for City Council District 1 (currently represented by term-limited Councilmember Margaret Chin) and City Council District 2 (currently represented by Councilmember Carlina Rivera, who is running for re-election). We are disappointed to report that Councilmember Rivera will not be participating in the candidate forum, but the other candidates will be. Nearly all the candidates for the open District 1 seat will be participating.

Earlier this month we held a forum with all the candidates for the open City Council District 3 seat (currently occupied by term-limited Council Speaker Corey Johnson) — watch the video here.

We have distributed questionnaires to all candidates for Council Districts 1, 2, and 3 as well, and will share those responses with you in early June.

We are also circulating a petition to all Mayoral candidates urging them to support historic preservation as part of their vision for New York City.

We are working with fellow preservation groups across the city to engage and seek positions from Mayoral candidates regarding these issues, and will share additional information as it becomes available.
