Enrollment Open for Our Children’s Education Program

We are now scheduling free and low-cost architecture and history lessons featuring walking tours and art projects for elementary and middle school students, including our Black History course. This program is free for qualifying schools. Over 90% of the schools we serve qualify for free or reduced rates. Our goal is to serve students. If you cannot afford the classes, they will be provided at no cost.

All courses are taught by highly qualified educators and align with NYC and NYS learning standards. Course material reinforces and aligns with your curricula:

For elementary and middle schools, we offer 3 three-part lessons including a classroom lesson, a guided walking tour, and a culminating art project:

For middle schools and upper elementary schools, our African American History, Greenwich Village and Beyond includes four lessons on local, citywide, national, and global themes and movements. You can pick any or all of the lessons as they cover pre-European settlement, Dutch origins of slavery in New York, its evolution under English and American rule, and its eventual abolition; how voting rights and other civil rights evolved and were won by and for African Americans in our city; the flowering of African American culture in New York and especially in Greenwich Village, and how it reflected and affected African American lives and communities; and more.
