Village Awardees Announced — Join Us on Tuesday, June 13 at 6 PM at The Cooper Union’s Great Hall!

Village Award winners, clockwise from left: La Mama ETC. restoration (via EV Grieve), the Red Door Place, Dashwood Books, Essex Card Shop, Yara Arts Group, and the Manhattan Monster Bar.

After weeks of review by a committee of longtime neighborhood residents, historians, and leaders, the 2023 Village Awardees have been selected. We are proud to share that they are:

  • La MaMa ETC., Restoration of 74 East 4th Street (Regina Kellerman Award)
  • The Red Door Place (food pantry and soup kitchen), 201 West 13th Street
  • Essex Card Shop, 47 Avenue A
  • Dashwood Books, 33 Bond Street
  • The Manhattan Monster Bar, 80 Grove Street
  • Yara Arts Group

Congratulations to all of our winners, as well as each of our nominees, all of whom make invaluable contributions to our neighborhoods every day (most awardees must be nominated several years before making the final cut of six awardees!). We’re looking forward to celebrating this incredible array of organizations, businesses, and places, as well as the work of Village Preservation over the last year, and voting on our new slate of trustees.

The 33rd Annual Village Awards and 43rd Annual Meeting of Village Preservation is free and open to the public, and all are welcome and encouraged to attend (RSVPs are required, however). The program will be followed by a reception with refreshments.

We hope to see you on Tuesday, June 13 at 6 PM in the historic, landmarked Great Hall at The Cooper Union for this heartwarming community celebration.
