On Monday we held a forum and debate for the six candidates for the Third City Council District (West Side, Canal to 62nd Street), currently represented by term-limited Council Speaker Corey Johnson. It was a lively and informative discussion in which candidates shared their views and positions on preservation, development, affordable housing, outdoor dining, helping small businesses, the Mayor’s SoHo/NoHo plan, and much more. Our apologies to the more than 150 of you who tried to attend but were unable (the attendance limit was inadvertently set at a mere 100!), but fortunately we recorded the entire event, so you can watch it any time.

We will soon be announcing candidate forums for the First and Second Council Districts as well (East Side and Lower Manhattan), and will be distributing questionnaires to candidates, giving you even more information to make informed choices for the June 22 Primary Elections. As a 501C3, Village Preservation cannot and does not make endorsements, but we do provide you with information about candidates’ positions and records on issues and urge you to vote.
