West 13th Street Supertall Plan Gets Big Pushback

Axonometric view of proposed tower by George M. Janes & Associates (l.) and view of its planned location

Thank you to the nearly 1,000 of you who sent letters to City officials decrying the planned 538-ft.-tall tower at 5 West 13th Street/8-12 West 14th Street and supporting our zoning challenge to prevent approval. The developer here claims Mayor Adams’ “City of Yes” zoning changes, as approved by the City Council, allow his 36 super-luxury condos with no affordable housing and no public amenities or space whatsoever — even though the Mayor and his supporters claim the new rules were designed to increase affordable housing and encourage contextual development.

Building permits for the planned tower cannot be issued until our zoning challenges have been reviewed and answered by the City. See more coverage in The New York Times.
