Join us for a forum with candidates for the 2nd City Council District, currently represented by term-limited City Councilmember Carlina Rivera (district map here). This diverse district includes all of Greenwich Village east of 6th Avenue and north of Houston Street, all of the East Village, NoHo, Kips Bay, Rose Hill, Union Square, Gramercy Park, and Stuyvesant Square.

The primary election will be held on June 24, 2025, with early voting from June 14 to 22. The general election will be held on November 4, 2025.

This will be a unique opportunity to hear from candidates about preservation, development, and planning issues in our neighborhood, and how they will deal with them as City Councilmember. All candidates have been invited. Candidates so far confirmed are Sarah Batchu, Harvey Epstein, Andrea Gordillo, Jason Murillo, Allie Ryan, and Anthony Weiner.

There will be an opportunity for questions from the public moderated by the host, and the forum will be recorded and shared after. The City Council plays an enormously important role in land use, development, and preservation issues, particularly at the local level. They are local neighborhoods’ advocates and representatives to our city government.
