Built 1827-28, 42 Carmine Street and its surroundings were landmarked in 2010 as part of the Greenwich Village Historic District Extension II (South Village) for which Village Preservation advocated. Through Village Preservation’s efforts, it was also listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2013. Located in the ground level of this building is Carmine Street Guitars, an iconic local business and Village Award winner, which you can learn more about here.
