At the September 14th, 2010 public meeting, the applicant presented a revised proposal to the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The revised proposed eliminated the windows and replaced them with vertical metal posts. The Commission approved the application.

This applicant is scheduled to present the revised proposal to the Landmarks Preservation Commission at a public meeting on September 14th, 2010.
Status as of July 27th, 2010:
At the July 27th public hearing, the applicant presented the proposal to the Landmarks Preservation Commission. While the Commissioners were all supportive of the concept of a pergola, they thought that some aspects of this particular proposal needed to be revised, especially the windows, which they thought seemed out-of-place. They asked the applicant to revise the proposal and return at a later date (TBD) with revisions.
Status as of July 19th, 2010:
At the July 19th Community Board 2 Landmarks & Public Aesthetics Committee meeting, the applicant presented a proposal that will be shown to the Landmarks Preservation Commission on July 27, 2010. The application is to construct a rooftop pergola on the 7th floor terrace of 240 Mercer Street. The terrace faces the building’s courtyard, which is visible from Mercer Street.
The pergola would be constructed of a painted (light brown) steel frame supporting thin strands of vertical cable wires and casement windows with transoms.
