40-56 University Place, aka 25 East 9th Street/26 East 10th Street. Designed in 1926 by Sugarman and Berger, this 12-story residential building features neo-Romanesque and Byzantine-style elements. Among its notable residents was the Tony Award–winning choreographer and dancer Agnes de Mille. Jay McInerney, author of Bright Lights, Big City, lived here as well.
