City Council District 1 Candidate Preservation Forum This Wednesday at 6 pm; Videos for District 2, BP, Mayor Available

Join Village Preservation, the East Village Community Coalition, and the Lower East Side Preservation Initiative this Wednesday at 6 pm via Zoom for the only forum with District 1 City Council candidates on preservation issues. District 1 includes nearly all of Manhattan south of Houston Street (map), and the City Councilmember plays an enormously important role in determining land use, development, and preservation in those neighborhoods. Candidates Jess Coleman, Christopher Marte (the current City Council District 1 representative), Helen Qiu, and Eric Yu have confirmed, and there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
We’ll also be holding a forum on preservation issues with candidates for City Council District 3 the following Wednesday, May 7 at 6 pm. This will also be via Zoom, is also the only such forum for candidates for this office, and will provide an opportunity for questions from the audience. District 3 includes all of Greenwich Village west of Sixth Avenue, Chelsea, and Hell’s Kitchen. Candidates Erik Bottcher (the incumbent), Louis Flores, and Dominick Romero have confirmed.
Last week we held a well-attended forum with candidates for City Council District 2 (map), currently represented by term-limited Councilmember Carlina Rivera — WATCH THE VIDEO HERE. Earlier we held preservation forums with candidates for Mayor (watch HERE) and Borough President (watch HERE).
