City of Yes Vote Date Pushed Back — WRITE TODAY!
We have learned that the City Council’s vote on Mayor Adams’ “City of Yes” plan, which would apply broad upzonings across the city and lay the groundwork for more in the future, likely won’t take place until later in November. This gives us a little more time to write Councilmembers — who will ultimately decide the plan’s fate — urging them not to approve the many harmful elements of the plan.
Village Preservation recently released a report analyzing 2010 and 2020 census data showing that neighborhoods that are upzoned as City of Yes would do across the city tend to become less Black and Hispanic and more White, while neighborhoods with more moderate levels of housing production and landmark and zoning protections tend to become more Black, Hispanic, and Asian and less White.
