Landmarks Chair Will Step Down June 1; Make Sure Her Replacement is a True Preservationist

In April, amid great controversy and pushback over her plan to change the rules of the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) to cut the public out of the decision-making process in many cases, current LPC Chair Meenakshi Srinivasan announced she would resign her post on June 1.

No replacement has yet been named.  When the Mayor nominates a permanent replacement as Chair of the LPC, that person will have to be confirmed by the City Council.

It’s critical that we ensure that the Chair’s replacement is a true preservationist who will fight to protect our city’s landmarked buildings and neighborhoods, and ensure that worthy historic structures and areas are designated. GVSHP is waging a campaign to ensure that happens.
