During the campaign, Mayor-elect Mamdani indicated he would honor longstanding commitments made to restore and reopen the landmarked Tony Dapolito Recreation Center rather than follow Mayor Adams’ plan to destroy it. Village Preservation has been urging local elected officials, including Councilmember Erik Bottcher and Congressman Dan Goldman, to call on the Mayor-elect to preserve the center. In response, Councilmember Bottcher sent this letter; we are still awaiting a response from Congressman Goldman. 

It’s critical that Mayor-elect Mamdani hear from you and from ALL our local elected officials urging him to honor this pledge and repair, modernize, and reopen the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center.
