With Mayor Adams, the impetus behind the plan to demolish the landmarked, historic Tony Dapolito Recreation Center, we have a promising new opportunity to save the Center! $120 million was allocated to repair it years ago, which remains largely untouched. Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani recently made very positive statements indicating support for the community’s desire to preserve and restore the Center, and Village Preservation is reaching out to other candidates to urge them to support restoration.
