with Dr. Elissa Sampson, Cornell University

This March 25th marks the 110th anniversary of the tragic Triangle Shirtwaist Fire when 146 garment workers, mainly young immigrant women, died in less than 18 minutes. At 7:30 pm on 3/25, Dr. Elissa Sampson of Cornell University will deliver the Margolis Family Lecture via Zoom, focusing on the tragedy and how its growing commemoration in a new age of global sweatshops represents a compelling broadening of the collective memory of the descendants of Jewish and Italian immigrants and the labor movement. The lecture is sponsored by the Judaic Studies Department at Binghamton University.

The lecture is sponsored by the Judaic Studies Department at Binghamton University and is co-sponsored by Cornell Jewish Studies, The Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition, and Village Preservation.
