Veniero’s Pasticceria at 125: Stories and Snacks with owner Robert Zerilli

Co-sponsored by Veniero’s, and Urban Archive.

Veniero’s has been located between 1st and 2nd Avenues at 342 East 11th Street since it opened over 125 years ago. In 1885 Antonio Veniero immigrated to America from Southern Italy, and in 1894 opened his shop to offer the community biscotti, espresso, and other delicacies.
Now, Antonio’s grandson Robert Zerilli continues his family legacy at Veniero’s, a staple for delicious confections in a gorgeous European-style bakery, all amidst the ever-changing backdrop of the East Village.
Zerilli was the subject of a Village Preservation oral history, and in celebration of Veniero’s 125 years has invited us into the pasticceria for some of that storytelling. Join us for a delicious and delightful lunch break!
