This row of Meatpacking buildings were built in the 1880s by John Jacob Astor III and altered to their current height in 1940. Village Preservation got these and surrounding buildings landmarked in 2003 as part of the Gansevoort Market Historic District, and listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2007.
