Village Preservation got the 1829 rowhouse at 131 MacDougal Street individually landmarked in 2004, and the 1889 French Flats at 39 1/2 Washington Sq. So. and their surroundings (incl. 131 MacDougal) landmarked as part of the South Village Historic District in 2013, and listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places also in 2013Over Village Preservation’s protest, NYU demolished with the city’s permission the Provincetown Playhouse in 2008, in spite of it being determined eligible for the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
