Inscribed to Antonio Demo, pastor of Our Lady of Pompei. Giovanni Battista Perazzo was born in Genoa and emigrated to the United States at age 13. He entered the funeral business as an employee of Charles Baciagalupo, who migrated from Italy ahead of the big wave of Italian emigrants, opened a funeral home on Mulberry Street in Little Italy, and earned enough that he could retire to Italy. Perazzo married Baciagalupo’s sister Caroline, moved to Greenwich Village, and opened his own undertaking business at 199 Bleecker in 1912. He died September 12, 1950.
