About the Historic Image Archive
Village Preservation was founded in 1980 to preserve the architectural heritage and cultural history of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo. Village Preservation is a leader in protecting the sense of place and human scale that defines the Village’s unique community.
This image archive highlights the history of the people and built environment of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo, and New York City in general. It has been assembled over the years through generous donations and consists of several dozen different collections.
This photo archive is for educational purposes. Any image can be requested for personal, scholarly, or commercial use. An application must be submitted for all requests for an image.
