Walk & Draw: MacDougal-Sullivan Gardens
On Saturday, GVSHP held a second Walk & Draw event, this time to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the MacDougal-Sullivan Gardens historic district.
Artist Nick Golebiewski led participants down the summer streets, with a quick stop to sketch the Public Theater, followed by a drawing activity at the Merchant’s House Museum. All of this culminated in our arrival within the historic district, where each participant was assigned a house to draw and afterwards all the sketches were put together to form a hand-drawn map of the district. The Walk & Draw was a great way for participants to really take time and look at the Village in ways they might not have in their everyday lives, and engage with the history and architecture in a unique way. Please take a look at some of the photos from the tour below, or on our Flickr, and be sure to keep an eye out for future sketching events and walking tours!
