Welcome Aboard, Hannah Berry
Today, we welcome Hannah Berry (pronouns: she/they) to the Village Preservation team as our new Arthur A. Levin Program Associate. Hannah previously worked as an intern for Village Preservation, assisting with numerous research and programming projects. During her time as intern, Hannah contributed to research and development of a (forthcoming) map on NYC’s jazz history, promoted VP’s plaque program, helped manage our Children’s Education program, and supported many VP events and lectures.

Hannah originally hails from Los Angeles, California, where her fascination with cities and their intricate functions began early. After spending a formative semester abroad in Paris, Hannah moved to the East Coast to attend Mount Holyoke College. There, she earned a dual degree in Architectural Studies and Dance. Ever fascinated with the intersections of dance and architecture, Hannah completed a thesis in which she experimented with dance improvisation as a method for observing the built environment. She continues to investigate the connections between the two fields in her personal dance practice, and hopes to delve into the dance history of NYC while working at Village Preservation.
During her college years, Hannah consistently visited friends in NYC and was captivated by the density of culture, art, and architecture that the city boasts. As a result, she moved to Brooklyn after graduation. Over the past year and a half, Hannah has become well acquainted with the city’s architectural landscape and immersed herself in NYC’s dance and performing arts communities.
Before rejoining the Village Preservation team full-time, Hannah worked as a Development Associate for The Joyce Theater, which brings world-renowned dance companies to its historic Chelsea stage.

Hannah is thrilled to begin her new chapter as Programming Associate, and looks forward to contributing to the crucial work that Village Preservation undertakes. She is excited to support the organization’s educational and community-based programming, and to connect more deeply with our neighbors in the East Village, Greenwich Village, and Noho.
Welcome aboard, Hannah!
