Activist, Theorist, and Author
A fierce advocate who inspired a generation of preservationists, Jacobs saved Washington Square from a plan to build a highway through lower Manhattan.

Jacobs lived at 555 Hudson Street where she conceived her groundbreaking book, The Death and Life of Great American Cities.
