Early Voting Ongoing through June 25; Primary Election June 27
Early voting for City Council primary elections has begun, and will continue through Saturday, June 25, with Primary Election Day Tuesday, June 27. Every vote will count in these low-turnout, off-year elections following redistricting that again scrambled the boundaries of many districts.
The 1st Council District (most of Manhattan south of Houston Street; map) has a contested primary that includes incumbent Christopher Marte and several challengers.
The 2nd Council District (East Village, NoHo, Greenwich Village east of Sixth Avenue, and most of First to Fifth Avenues, 14th to 30th Streets; map) has a contested primary that includes incumbent Carlina Rivera and challenger Allie Ryan. Rivera refused to participate in our candidate forum, while challenger Allie Ryan did.
In the 3rd Council district (Greenwich Village west of Sixth Avenue, Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen) currently represented by Erik Bottcher, there is no contested primary.
