New Video Tours of African American History and Landmarks in Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo

We’re proud to release two video tours of the amazingly rich but often overlooked African American history of Greenwich Village, the East Village, and NoHo.  The videos look at the headquarters of the NAACP and the site of its first meeting; the African American musicians of Gay Street in the 19th century and the East Village in the 20th; African American women who crusaded for the right to vote and the right to ride at the front of the streetcar, decades before others did; the studio of the first African American art world ‘superstar;’ and a contemporary gallery dedicated to African American art and artists.
