432-438 East 14th Street BSA Variance Application
Village Preservation successfully led the opposition to a proposed zoning variance for this site which would have allowed the developer to build 50% taller and 25% larger than the current very generous zoning regulations allow. The application was based upon specious arguments about a supposed hardship created by underground conditions that apply to virtually every site in the area — none of which required a zoning variance. The variance was not approved and the new structure was built in conformance with the existing contextual zoning.
