Abingdon Square on Exhibit
From Farmland to New York City Greenmarket – 10/12

Join GrowNYC and the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation as we explore the history of Abingdon Square in images, from its location on the estate of Sir Peter Warren through today, where a vibrant market sets up shop every Saturday, selling produce, providing composting, and collecting recyclables. Images will explore the history of how Abingdon Square got its name, changes to the streetscape and park over time, and the Greenmarket past and present. Drop by during Greenmarket hours, peruse this pop-up exhibit, shop the bounty of the market, and enjoy some samples straight from the farms. Representatives from GrowNYC and the GVSHP will be available throughout the day.

GrowNYC is a hands-on non-profit which improves New York City’s quality of life through environmental programs that transform communities block by block and empower all New Yorkers to secure a clean and healthy environment for future generations.
