East Village Building Blocks Walking Tour with Sarah Bean Apmann

We continue to celebrate the release of Village Preservation’s East Village Building Blocks (gvshp.org/buildingblocks) with a special walking tour. The online resource took ten years to complete, using primary source research on every building in the East Village. On this tour, you’ll see and learn about houses of worship, theaters, schools, libraries, the country’s first public housing development, and one of the largest collections of intact tenements from the early 19th to the early 20th centuries. Our guide will be Village Preservation’s Director of Research and Preservation, Sarah Bean Apmann.

Sarah Bean Apmann has worked as an architectural historian in historic preservation for the past twenty years. She received her BA in History from Lehigh University and her MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University.

This event is outdoors and sidewalk accessible.
