Fred W. McDarrah’s “New York Scenes” Book Talk and Celebration

“For half a century, Fred W. McDarrah was Greenwich Village’s photographer in residence,” begins Sean Wilentz’s introduction to the retrospective Fred W. McDarrah New York Scenes, from Abrams Books. “Fred left behind an unprecedented body of work… Nobody had ever come close to depicting what Fred did. The spirit inside these pictures tell magical stories.” Join Sean Wilentz, Timothy McDarrah, and gallerist Steven Kasher for a slide show, short book talk, and celebration of the release of New York Scenes. From Jack Kerouac reading poetry, to Bob Dylan hanging out in Sheridan Square, to Andy Warhol filming in the Factory, to the Stonewall Riots, we will see the legendary birth of ideas and attitudes that continue to shape the character and allure of New York.
