Danielle Sevier was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and has lived in Greenwich Village her entire adult life. In September, 2001, when these picture were taken, she was a young mother and photographer. Deeply affected by the September 11th attacks and their impact on her city and community, Danielle was moved by the outpouring of emotion in response to the events and the way they manifested in memorials and other visible public responses around her. She was particularly moved by how many chose not to focus on the destruction of the attacks, but the resilience of so many of the people affected by it. Her collections shows the immediate aftermath of the attacks and the memorials, flags, and other messages which sprouted up around Greenwich Village and Lower Manhattan in the days and weeks that followed.
